Business Analyst Team Lead

The Clinical and Translational Informatics team focuses on developing/implementing operational and analytical applications for managing, processing, integrating and analyzing/mining data generated through clinical research
In collaboration with clinical researchers the team members actively engage in institutional and national efforts for collection and integration of clinical and genomic data for scientific knowledge generation and dissemination
o This is an outstanding opportunity to support leading-edge clinical research at a nationally-ranked academic cancer center
Ensure that BA best practices are established and maintained, processes and templates are available, and that all BAs are schooled in best practices and are performing to the required standard
o Provide a point of consultancy to individual BAs regarding delivery issues
Manage the team, ensuring that levels of communication are maintained through team meetings and 1:1s, setting and tracking against objectives, identifying and managing any performance issues, and supporting career development
o Assess the business problem, identify appropriate business solutions
o Document and communicate project requirements, requested changes and test results
o Support business change through development of appropriate business process documentation
o Effectively Interact with users, management and development team
o Develop training material if necessary, and train impacted parties
o Find the balance between individual wants and business needs, and interact with a variety of personality types towards a solution that works for the business
o Gain respect and create a sense of confidence among IT and business end-users
o Assess impact of each additional feature on SPARKS software framework and design functional behavior of new modules accordingly
o The business analyst needs to understand the vision of SPARKS and high level features that currently exist, and relationships between the features
o Write formal software requirements documents and functional specifications
o Write test scripts and test applications from a functional perspective
o Help PM in planning the project scope, handling change requests, and completing the project within allotted time constraints
o Promote and encourage staff to provide high quality customer service. Function as a role model for customer service in the Information Services group
o Work with direct reports, IS department management and Human Resources staff to ensure that all staff are being appropriately informed, supported, trained, guided and evaluated. Work to develop staff for project/team leadership roles
o Constantly reassess the allocation of staffing resources to meet the changing needs of the staff
o Evaluate overall employee performance, doing annual performance reviews of direct reports in a timely and thorough manner and perform all other managerial functions which constitute proper supervision of staff under his/her direction
o 5+ years of experience as a business analyst or as a manager of business analysts, including significant interaction with both IT and end-users
o Ability to analyze data pipelines, documents, and workflow to determine which course of action will help solve the business problem
o Ability to listen carefully and gain a clear understanding of the basic problem
o Ability to elicit requirements that the user is not clearly articulating is important
o Ability to assess a situation, receive input from stakeholders and management, and select and propose a course of action without hesitation
o Ability to communicate to large and small groups effectively and clearly
o When competing priorities exist, ability to exercise negotiation skills with the goal of achieving a workable solution is critical
o Ability to maintain relationships within our organization and with external partners (like vendors) is important
o Ability to speak with authority the dual languages of business and technology, and demonstrate a strong technical aptitude
o Experience in using formal requirements gathering methodology (e.g. UML) and tools for developing/implementing enterprise applications desired
o Experience in developing test scripts for enterprise applications desired
o Ability to deal with frequent and random changes and finding ways to quickly resolve problems by rapidly adapting and moving toward a project's successful completion
o Detail and summary oriented and have proven ability to produce and communicate concise and accurate summary reports
o Evidence of actively contributing to continuous improvement of BA processes, templates and standards
o Proven experience in developing processes for gathering and documenting business requirements for technical projects, including leading workshops for requirements and business process capture
o Experience in delivering enterprise level software development and implementation projects
o Experience in managing a team of BAs, and through them, supporting delivery of multiple simultaneous projects
o Proven experience in effectively working with PM and Development Teams in a matrix environment

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
